I can’t wait to see this with Wrigley in the background. He’s only had one PA in a Cubs uniform, but I already love Milton Bradley.
ACB projects him to hit .292/.395/.506 and have a 3.9 WAR. That’s with 479 PA; given a full season (700 PA), his WAR jumps to 5.65. They decided to be conservative and project him at +5 in RF, too. For his career, Milton’s got a 16.3 UZR/150 in right. That is spectacular. If we’re a bit more optimistic and say he’s +10 on defense, that’s another half win; if he can still play up to his career numbers, it’s another full win. So while their safe projection seems fair, it’s worth keeping in mind that we could be talking about a six and a half win player on a team that should run away with its division and will likely have the best record in the NL. Don’t be surprised if Milton is in the MVP discussion.
